    Kavanna President of N.E. Chairmen

At the annual convention of New England social Chairmen, held at Harvard Law School on Monday, our own concert Chairman, Will Kavanna, was elected president.

His formal title is President of the New England Congress of College Social and Concert Chairmen and he will head up the activities of that organization.  He is a third year senior, majoring in economics and finance here at Babson College.
Present  at the convention were Social chairmen from forty-one New England colleges and universities.
The organization was formed  two years ago in an effort to co- ordinate the social activities of New England colleges so that they belonging to this organization iswould not have conflicting social events.  The major benefit by that it gives individual schools more buying and bargaining power when dealing with entertainment or hotel man- agement.  This is the first year Babson has participated.

This year, under Kavanna’s leadership, the Congress plans to publish a booklet listing all reputable entertainment agents, managers and hotels worthy of college trade.  It is hoped that banding together will bring fairer prices to college buyers.  Until recently the colleges were being charged relatively high prices and were unfairly treated in contracts.

The Congress plans to have inter-college concerts.  Babson is indeed fortunate and proud to be a member of such an organization.
